Refection on my 3d model Render

My 3D Render
Professional Example

Next time i think i could improve is not spend too much time thinking of ways to model and just go for the simplest option.

I think i need to improve on modeling bigger objects in less time also i need to practice with more lighting and start learning advanced texturing instead of just drag and drop. I also need to start exploring other tools and modifiers to broaden my 3D skills and make my models more professional.

I think my Salts Mill modeling went well but it took too long, i also got my texture right for the buildings and environment but the thing that went well the most was my animation the end result was real smooth as i did it in 30fps.

my time management was probably the weakest point during the project as i spent too much time on one building and came very close to not having my work rendered in time.

in the past year i have learned many skills including how to do stitching (dot to dot in 3D) i also learned more about texturing, animation and basic lighting.

Id have to say i am most confident with animation and stitching at this stage but will try to get more confident with modeling.

I think in the end i didn't get what i intended at the start but i got something better even with obstacles with program compatibility and technical issues.

In my eyes i have got a long way to go to reach a professional standard with the lighting, modeling, texturing etc but with practice i will get there.

Salts mill update 12

I am about to attach the roof to the mill building but first I will have to get it to the right size

Salts mill update 11

This is the salts mill after I have competed adding the left and right sides of the mill

Salts mill update 10

Here I am copying part of my existing buildings to make the remaining part instead of modelling them from scratch as this is quicker and saves time

Salts mill update 9

Here is what the salts mill looks like so far it's starting to look like the actual building

Salts mill update 8

Here is the salts mill after I attached the tower and the building together to make it one editable poly

Salts mill update 7

Here is the top of the building with the faces created

Salts mill update 6

Here I am creating faces on top of the building which I left till the end

Salts mill update 5

Here I'm filling in some gaps under the windows by creating more faces

Music shop update 6

Here I have finished extruding the entrance to the shop now I will need to figure out a way to do windows and the door

Music shop update 5

Here I have started extruding the entrance into the shop first I had to move the vertexes to make the right shape for the entrance

Music shop update 4

I realised that I had modelled the music shop back words as I looked at the real music shop on the Internet luckily it was an easy fix all I had to do was rotate the building 180 degrees clockwise and I had to create a polygon for what would have been the floor but now the roof

Music shop update 2/3

Here is me having completed creating polygons for the side and I also created the roof using the same method by creating a polygon

Music shop update 1

I've started modelling the music shop from home to make up for lost time, so far I've modelled the front and from that extruded 3 more walls and for the last wall I'm creating polygons manually in order to make it one mesh

Salts mill update 4

this is the end result of the door it took longer than expected as i couldn't the mils vertexes aligned as the door had different points which led me to delete half the door then duplicate it which i then grouped them making the corners identical making a lot easier to align it

Salts mill update 3

i created the door separately and im trying to allighn the salts mill vertex with the shape of the door so then i can extrude that area and fit the door inside

Salts mill update 2

this is the salts building with the windows done took time but im proud of the end result

Salts mill update 1

a quick update ive been struggling with the windows on the salts building but my tutor helped me by copying one window and then moving it to the correct position but that was not all i had to delete some polygons and then move the window to its place where then i had to create faces which is a difficult process

Music Studio Induction

Today we had an introduction to the music studio (well the one in college anyway) we where shown two dynamic microphones one was a rm57 model and the other was a rm58 both were industry standard, one was used to record vocals whereas the other one sounds ie. drums, footsteps etc.
We where shown something called a mixer which you plug the microphones into it acts as a control station for the output of the sound coming from the microphone. On the mixer there are tons of buttons but we were only taught the basics for now they included volume and several effects.
We also used a program called audacity 1.3 beta which I had some experience with from my previous school, on it we were asked to have a go at recording and playing with different effects that were pre-installed on audacity. We were also given a quick 101 on safety of the equipment making sure no food or drink was in the studio as water an electronic is a fire hazard and food could get stuck in the instruments and buttons.

For our 3D project me and my second in charge Steven had a quick talk of how we where going to implement sounds in our 3D trailer. We decided we needed footsteps and general sounds of outside ie. people talking, wind, cars etc. we also talked about voice overs which at the moment we don't where we are going to include it the rest we are still brainstorming.

quick update

today ive been concentrating on my 3d model and have completed 40% of my first building
